The Spirit

Unpretentious Monkey - The Spirit of Meihua Lake Leisure Agriculture Area

In the early days, the Meihua Lake Recreation Agriculture Area was a Xipu land. It is  full of Fanshekeng and Dagoukeng Valley. This area often gets washed down by floods. In the early years, the Hakka ancestors were afraid of being harassed by the aborigines when they entered the mountains because they could not compete for land reclamation. The only way to retreat is to take local materials, stack stones to form walls, cover them with thatch, build homes, and settle down to survive. At that time, the ancestors had only one belief, to create a world for their children and grandchildren. For those living in Maopuwei, the joking language of "the monkey moves the stone" conveys the hard work of our ancestors in reclaiming the stone garden.

Because of the perseverance of the ancestors, not only overcame the harsh environment, but also established in the barren land that year. Your own homeland has become the spirit of today’s beauty. Today’s Meihua Lake Agriculture Leisure Area is respected by everyone. Holding this spirit of hard work, not complaining about others, optimistic and enterprising. They firmly believe that tomorrow will be better. Till today, the stone cultural hall was rebuilt for visitors to pay their respects.
